On November 28, the OSMU Department of Philosophy, Humanities and Social Sciences hosted the International Chess Tournament «Brave Lion», organized by the Agency for Public Diplomacy. The event took place at the OSMU College. The tournament was made possible in large part thanks to the generous support of Nikolay V. SAVENKO, General Director of the Agency for Public Diplomacy, who provided top-quality new chessboards and clocks.
A total of 20 members of the OSMU Chess Club took part in the tournament, including nine students from the Republic of India. The participants reaffirmed that chess is an endless exercise of the mind, enhancing cognitive abilities that serve individuals throughout life, such as concentration, critical and abstract thinking, problem-solving, pattern recognition, strategic planning, creativity, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.
Chess matches, particularly international competitions like this one, help build friendships between representatives of different nations, foster mutual trust, and lay the foundation for long-term cooperation.
