On December 15, 2023, Stepan G. CHUKHIN, PhD in Pedagogy, Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, hosted the International Interdisciplinary Scientific Seminar «Scripts and Simulacra of a Citizen in the Digital Society».
This gathering brought together 1st and 2nd-year students from the Faculties of Pediatric and General Medicine, along with faculty members from the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, the Department of Foreign Languages, and the Department of Youth Policy and Social Development. Participants from the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Yemen, and the Republic of India also contributed their perspectives to the seminar.
The seminar's primary objective was to reassess Jean BAUDRILLARD's philosophical concepts and their implications for citizen socialization in the digital era. It aimed to identify factors influencing citizen socialization, elaborate on the importance of sociocultural simulacra, comprehend the role of civic memory practices, evaluate the impact of virtual reality on citizens' lives, explore contemporary approaches to citizen socialization, and examine the harmonization of human values with those prevalent in the digital society.
Stepan G. CHUKHIN opened the seminar with a report entitled «The Role of Sociocultural Simulations in the Reconstruction of Civic Traditions».
Mikhail Yu. TROFIMOV, PhD in Philosophy, Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, presented a report entitled «Live Action Role-Playing as an «'Immersion Simulator» into Alternative Reality».
Sergey P. NAZAROV, Prof. Asst. of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, delved into the objectification of civic traditions in the conditions of the digital society.
Maxim Yu. SMIRNOV, PhD in Philosophy, Assoc. Prof. at the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, provided a detailed examination of Jean BAUDRILLARD's philosophy.
Ilya K. SHALIMOV, Prof. Asst. at the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, presented the sociocultural perspectives and challenges of citizen socialization in the digital society.
Active contributors to shaping the discussion and addressing organizational aspects of the scientific seminar included Ludmila A. MAKSIMENKO, PhD in Philosophy, Head of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities; Elina N. ASTAFYEVA, Head of the Department of Youth Policy and Social Development; and Elena V. PASTUKHOVA, Assoc. Prof. at the Department of Foreign Languages.
The seminar concluded with plans for collaborative interdisciplinary research by the faculty of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities and the Department of Foreign Languages, supporting the research work of Russian and foreign students.
