The large-scale National Сompetition «Neotlozhka» has concluded at Krasnoyarsk State Medical University as part of the annual Forum «University Pedagogy». The event was aimed at developing practical skills among future doctors. Fourteen teams from thirteen cities across Russia (Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Omsk, Yekaterinburg, Grozny, Surgut, Barnaul, Cheboksary, Irkutsk, Chita, Yakutsk, and Ulan-Ude) competed for victory. OSMU was represented by the «Siberian Help» Team.
During the two-day competition, participants demonstrated their emergency response skills at specially equipped stations featuring scenarios based on real events that took place in Russia in 2024, including terrorist attacks, out-of-hospital childbirth, acute poisoning, and other emergencies. Professional actors simulated critical conditions such as gunshot wounds, fractures, panic, and labor contractions to create realistic training conditions.
For the first time, the competition included tasks using VR technologies. According to the organizers, training on real patients is unsafe, while virtual reality allows participants to gain experience and develop clinical thinking skills. These technologies are used primarily to simulate conditions that are difficult to recreate in real life, including large-scale emergencies, operating rooms, intensive care units, ambulances, and air medical evacuation helicopters.
Following the results of all competition stages, the «First Med First Aid» team from Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University took first place. The second-place award went to OSMU’s «Siberian Help» Team, while the «Challenge Accepted» Team from KrasSMU finished in third place.
