The National Conference «Current Issues of Sports Training, Physical Culture, Recreation and Medical Rehabilitation. Innovations, Prospects, Development»

On the eve of the Special Operations Forces Day, OSMU hosted the National Conference with international participation «Current Issues of Sports Training, Physical Culture, Recreation and Medical Rehabilitation. Innovations, Prospects, Development». The Conference was dedicated to the memory of Assoc. Prof. Artyom V. SALUGIN, PhD (in Pedagogy), Professor of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Master of Sports of Russia, Associate Professor of the OSMU Department of Physical Culture.

The Conference became a significant scientific and professional event, bringing together specialists from various regions of Russia and abroad. Representatives of universities and practical healthcare from Omsk, Novosibirsk, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Ufa, Bishkek, and Karaganda took part in the event.

The fact that the conference was held at a medical university added special significance to the event. It was symbolic that an institution training future doctors brought together professionals for whom health is both a professional priority and a personal value.

At the ceremonial opening, welcome addresses were delivered by Prof. Alexander I. NOVIKOV, MD, Dr Sci (in Medicine), Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, President of Omsk State Medical University, and Prof. Vladimir I. MIKHALEV, PhD (in Pedagogy), Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation, President of the Siberian State University of Physical Culture and Sports. Their personal example of professional excellence and active longevity convincingly demonstrated that physical culture and sports are integral to both professional success and lifelong vitality.

Their speeches underscored the Сonference’s educational mission, highlighting that health is the result of sustained personal discipline and conscious choice, a principle examined from evidence-based perspectives across disciplines.

Speakers emphasized that physical culture and sports contribute not only to physical well-being but also to the professional development of future specialists. Amid high academic workloads, stress, and physical inactivity, physical education serves as a strategic resource for strengthening resilience and professional performance.

Discussions focused on integrating sports training, recreational technologies, and medical rehabilitation into university education. In medical training in particular, fostering a lasting commitment to health during the formative years of professional identity is essential. A modern physician must not only understand prevention and rehabilitation but also embody a personal culture of health, setting an example for patients and society.

As part of the Conference, certificates of honor were awarded for high professionalism, dedication to the profession, personal contribution to strengthening the health of future physicians, and an inspiring example of service to physical culture and sports to Assoc. Prof. Natalya A. KORENKOVA and Lyudmila A. KUCHKOVA, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Physical Culture.

Certificates of honor were also presented for active participation in the university’s sports life, initiative, personal commitment to physical culture and sports, and high athletic achievements to Sergei I. KHUZHULOV, a 5th-year student of the General Medicine Faculty, and Farid Zh. KHAKIMOV, a 5th-year student of the Faculty of Dentistry.
