The National Scientific Conference «Prevention and Early Diagnosis of Oncological Diseases in Primary Care: Solving Problems Together» took place on March 2, coinciding with World Cancer Day. The event was organized by the Russian Society for Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases (RSPNCD), its Omsk Regional Branch, the Ministry of Health of the Omsk Region, the National Medical Research Center for Internal and Preventive Medicine, the Russian Scientific Medical Society of Internal Medicine, the Russian Scientific Society of Gastroenterologists, and the Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention.

Cancer remains a major global and national health concern, emphasizing the need for early detection and prevention. Currently, preventive measures are limited, with evidence-based screening for malignant tumors being one of the most reliable methods. Preventive examinations and population screening play crucial roles in this regard. In Russia, population screening includes oncological screening for seven cancer sites. The pivotal role of primary care doctors (general practitioners, family doctors) is underscored, as they diagnose about 80-90% of all oncological diseases during primary medical care.
The Conference began with opening remarks from Oksana M. DRAPKINA, a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who highlighted the topic's significance and thanked OSMU Rector for organizing the event.
Maria A. LIVZAN, a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairperson of RSPNCD, emphasized the importance of targeted prevention of oncological diseases, leveraging technological advancements to tailor treatment approaches.
