On March 21, the Regional Scientific Conference «Burning Issues of Occupational Health» took place organized by the Ministry of Public Health of the Omsk Region, Occupational Health Center of the Primary Healthcare Unit №7, the OSMU Department of Occupational Health.
The mixed format allowed specialists in occupational health and chairpersons of the medical examining boards working to join the discussion.
In the opening speech, Vyacheslav V. EGORENKO, Medical Director of the Primary Healthcare Unit №7, noted the tremendous role that occupational physicians play in maintaining the well-being of people working in unsafe conditions.

PLOTNIKOVA, MD, PhD, Chief External Specialist in Occupational Health of the Omsk Region, Head of the OSMU Department of Occupational Health, Chairperson of the Conference Program Committee.
Leading specialists shared their experiences. Olga V. PLOTNIKOVA presented a report on occupational service work during the last two years and familiarized the participants with the new regulatory documents. Vladimir V. PASHIN, Head of the Occupational Health Center of the Primary Healthcare Unit №7, presented a detailed report on preliminary and periodic medical examinations of workers for the period of 2014-2022. Alexander A. SEMENKIN, MD, PhD, Prof. of the Department of Internal Medicine and Family Medicine (Postgraduate Course), shared his research on life-threatening cardiac rhythm disturbances in the practice of the occupational physician, focusing on diagnostics and treatment. Elena V. USACHEVA, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Department of Internal Medicine and Family Medicine (Postgraduate Course), presented her report entitled «Differential diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis». Prof. Anna V. MORDYK, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Phthisiology, Pulmonology and Infectious Diseases, told about current management tactics for the obstructive pulmonary syndrome.
Prof. Assoc. Andrey S. KOLCHIN, MD, PhD, Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Education, has covered the topic of advanced professional training and retraining of medical specialists.
The issues raised at the Conference stir lively discussion proving that occupational health is a fast-growing area in both practical healthcare and science.
