The Regional Scientific Conference «Current Issues in Internal Medicine»

 
The Regional Scientific Conference «Current Issues in Internal Medicine», dedicated to International General Practitioners’ Day, was held on June 11, 2025.
 
Organized by the OSMU Department of Internal Medicine and Outpatient Care, the Сonference gathered general practitioners, outpatient internists from the Omsk Region, along with residents, fostering a vibrant exchange of professional experience and clinical insights.
 
Opening remarks were delivered by Prof. Maria A. LIVZAN, MD, PhD, OSMU Rector, Chief External Specialist in Internal Diseases of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for the Siberian Federal District, Corresponding Member of RAS, Head of the OSMU Department of Internal Medicine (Intermediate Level) and Gastroenterology. She was joined by Prof. Inna A. VIKTOROVA, MD, PhD, Head of the OSMU Department of Internal Medicine and Outpatient Care, Chief External General Practitioner of the Ministry of Health of the Omsk Region.
 
The Conference featured a series of expert lectures, including «GERD Therapy: Striking the Balance Between Efficacy, Safety, and Accessibility» by Prof. Maria A. LIVZAN; «Cardiorespiratory Risks in Patients with COPD» by Prof. Inna A. VIKTOROVA; «Advances in Diagnosis and Treatment of Bronchial Asthma: Russian Clinical Guidelines 2024» by Natalia V. BAGISHEVA, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof. at the Department of Internal Medicine and Outpatient Care.
The presentations offered in-depth insights into the outpatient management of gastroenterological conditions, most notably, GERD, as well as pulmonary disorders such as COPD and bronchial asthma, which remain central to the daily practice of general practitioners. The Conference culminated in a lively and thought-provoking discussion on contemporary approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of GERD.
