On November 21, 2022, OSMU hosted the Scientific e-Conference on Pediatric Dentistry dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the foundation of the OSMU Faculty of Dentistry. More than 70 specialists from the dentistry field participated in the event.
In the welcoming speech, Prof. Assoc. Galina I. SKRIPKINA, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, mentioned the importance of such events for professional growth.
From the joint report of Eugeniy V. EKIMOV, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, and Yulia G. ROMANOVA, Prof. Asst. of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, participants learned about the clinical picture and treatment of dental caries in young preschoolers, modern approach to prevention and regular check-ups. Yulia ROMANOVA told about anatomical and physiological prerequisites and the main risk factors for early childhood caries, the path of infection, focusing on feeding-induced caries, and the effect of simple carbohydrates on the oral cavity. She also presented hygiene items and baby toothpaste suitable for one-year-olds. The core of the report was devoted to the treatment of early childhood caries with classical tactics and options for surgical treatment.
Albina Zh. GARIFULLINA, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, presented a report on instrumental and conservative treatment of root canals in primary teeth. She presented the criteria for choosing a treatment method for pulpitis in children, an algorithm for managing such patients, and talked about the endodontics of primary teeth.
At the end of the Conference, the participants discussed further cooperation between specialists from the scientific community and doctors and outlined the topics for upcoming conferences.
