The Seminar Venous Thrombosis of Microvascular Bed

 
The seminar "Venous thrombosis of the microvascular bed" was held, organized by the OSMU Department of Ophthalmology in association with Clinical Ophthalmological Hospital. Mixed format of the seminar allowed ophthalmologists from Omsk region to take part in the event. The topic of the seminar was related to thrombosis.
 
Despite the development of numerous methods for the prevention and treatment of thrombosis, they are considered the main cause of death and disability in industrialized countries, – Vladimir M. SHADEVSKY, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof. of the OSMU Department of Internal Medicine (Intermediate Level) and Gastroenterology said during the opening of the event. – Almost a quarter of the world's population faces this problem at one time or another in their lives.
 
In his report "Venous Thrombosis and Thrombophilia," Vladimir M. SHADEVSKY presented the causes and types of venous thrombosis, their relationship with various pathological conditions, including thrombophilia. He also spoke about the treatment and prevention of these conditions. His report aroused keen interest among the audience: many questions and comments were made.
The topic was further discussed by Ekaterina A. STEPANOVA, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof. of the OSMU Department of Ophthalmology. Her report "Occlusion of the retinal veins" was devoted to the causes of damage to the microvascular venous bed of the eye, leading to a violation of the outflow of blood through the central vein of the retina or its branches, characterized by a clinical picture of venous stasis with a violation of the perfusion of the retinal capillaries, leading to irreversible changes in visual functions. She presented the criteria for establishing a diagnosis, indications for prescribing various types of treatment for this pathology. She focused on the timing of dispensary observation of this category of patients in order to timely identify complications and treat them to ensure the most favorable outcome of the disease.
 
The meeting was concluded by a report by Elvira V. MANAKOVA, MD, an ophthalmologist at the laser department of the V.P. Vykhodtsev Clinical Hospital. She spoke about the options for laser treatment used for thrombosis of the central retinal vein. The report presented the indications, contraindications and therapeutic possibilities of the treatment methods under consideration.
