The 6th Regional Scientific Conference of Students from Basic Schools of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) in the Omsk Region has kicked off at the Omsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the RAS. During the Event, high school students will exchange scientific views and ideas and receive expert opinions on their research from representatives of the regional scientific community. The section meeting served as the final stage of evaluating the research projects of students who passed the preliminary selection at the school stages of the Conference.
The program includes section meetings in seven scientific areas. OSMU staff traditionally helps to host the "Medicine and Biology" section. Our university's jury included Assoc. Prof. Larisa V. CHERNAYA, PhD in biology, Head of the Biology Department, Head of the Educational and Methodological Department; Galiya R. BIKBAVOVA, MD, PhD, Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Internal Medicine (Advanced Level) and Endocrinology, Head of the Department of Innovative Development and R&D Support; and Assoc. Prof. Dmitry B. AVDEEV, MD, Dr. Sci. (in Biology), Prof. of the Histology, Cytology, and Embryology Department. The opening report of the young scientists' conference, entitled "Life Before Birth.", was made by Assoc. Prof. Elena D. SERGEEVA, MD, PhD (in Medicine), Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Histology, Cytology, and Embryology. The jury assessed not only the originality and scientific novelty of the presented research, but also their ability to articulate their views, answer questions, and present the results of their work. Following the meeting, the young scientists received professional evaluations of their experimental projects from leading specialists in our region, career guidance information materials, and valuable prizes from OSMU.
The winner and runners-up in the "Medicine and Biology" section were:
● 1st place - Alexey ZOLOTOV with his project "Determining the Level of Stress Reactivity in Laboratory Animals Using a Comprehensive Assessment Algorithm";
● 2nd place - Margarita PALYANOVA with her project "The Effect of Vape Liquids on Oral Resistance and Immunity" and Varvara MAMEDOVA with her project "Development of a Cognitive Function Simulator for Students";
● 3d place - Taisiya ERZENKOVA with her project "Burnout Syndrome in Healthcare Workers" and Kirill ZARYA with a project on the causes of pathologies in humans during swimming shared third place.
Thus, the regional scientific conference of students from basic schools of the RAS in the Omsk Region serves as the foundation for future scientific discoveries and trains a new generation of researchers.
