The X Scientific Conference «Theory and Practice of Pediatric Healthcare»

The X Scientific Conference «Theory and Practice of Pediatric Healthcare», organized by the Ministry of Public Health of the Omsk Region, the OSMU Faculty of Pediatrics, the Interregional Pediatric Respiratory Society, and Central State Medical Academy, took place on March 29. 

The mixed format of the Conference attracted more than 250 specialists in pediatrics from Omsk, Irkutsk, Astana, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Tomsk, and Barnaul. 

The opening speech was delivered by Elena A. MIROSHNICHENKO, Chief Pediatrician of the Omsk Region. Prof. Sagira T. ABDRAKHMANOVA, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. On behalf of Prof. Maria A. LIVZAN, MD, PhD, OSMU Rector, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a welcoming speech was delivered by Prof. Elena B. PAVLINOVA, MD, PhD, Head of the OSMU Department of Pediatrics (Advanced Course), Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, and Prof. Oleg V. ANTONOV, MD, PhD, Head of the OSMU Department of Pediatrics. 

Leading specialists in pediatrics presented their reports on the most topical issues. Elena B. PAVLINOVA told about pharmacotherapy of acute respiratory infections in pediatric practice considering current guidelines. Together with Natalia Yu. VLASENKO, MD, PhD, Chief External Specialist in Pediatric Endocrinology of the Omsk Region, Prof. Assoc. of the OSMU Department of Pediatrics (Advanced Course), she enlightened the listeners on modern approaches to prevention of nutrition-related conditions. In his report, Oleg V. ANTONOV focused on the early diagnosis and rational therapy of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency in children. Elena F. LOBOVA, MD, PhD, Prof. Assoc. of the OSMU Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, introduced alternative Russian drugs for the treatment of acute respiratory diseases. Stella G. FOMINYKH, MD, PhD, Head of the OSMU Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology, Chief External Specialist in Clinical Pharmacology, told about the potential of phytoneering in the management of cough syndrome in children. Yuriy A. KROTOV, MD, PhD, Chief External Specialist in Otorhinolaryngology of the Omsk Region, Head of the OSMU Department of Otorhinolaryngology, outlined the main features of rhinopathology in pediatrics. The staff of the OSMU Department of Pediatrics (Advanced Course), including Tatiana N. BELKOVA, MD, PhD, and Olga A. SAVCHENKO, MD, PhD, told about the multidisciplinary approach to extended newborn screening, diagnosis, and treatment of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy in the newborn. Natalia A. POLYANSKAYA, MD, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Pediatrics, presented a case of acute jaundice in an 11-month-old baby.

The topics of the Conference raised great interest in participants. The event gave a platform for the exchange of opinions, making it possible to seek solutions to the most burning issues of pediatrics in our Region and beyond.
