On November 23, 2023, the Department of Philosophy, Humanities, and Social Sciences hosted the Regional stage of the XXXII International Christmas Educational Readings. The event, formatted as a Conference with sections dedicated to «Philosophy» and «History», served as a significant church and community forum. It represented a unique and meaningful event in education, culture, spiritual enlightenment, and patriotic upbringing.
The Conference brought together students from Omsk State Medical University, Omsk State Agrarian University, and Omsk State University.
Lyudmila A. MAKSIMENKO, PhD in Philosophy, Head of the OSMU Department of Philosophy, Humanities, and Social Sciences, opened the Conference with insightful words. Drawing an analogy between the Roman Forum and the Christmas Readings, she emphasized their role as centers for public life and discussion of important topics. For several years, our University has actively participated in discussing themes proposed by the Forum organizers.
This year's theme, «Faith and Knowledge: Past and Present», delved into historical epochs and cultures. Questions about the essence of faith and knowledge, their interrelation, the place in the modern world, and the relationship between science and religion sparked interest and lively discussion among students.
Closing the Conference, Tatiana I. BELOZEROVA, Head of the Inter-Institutional Affairs Unit at the Department of Religious Education and Catechesis (Omsk State Technical University), commended the high quality of reports. She expressed a desire to continue the collaboration between our University and the Omsk Diocese.
