The XXXII International Congress «Innovative Technologies in Dentistry» took place on March 5-6, organized by the Russian Dental Association, the Omsk Dental Association, the Ministry of Health of the Omsk Region, and OSMU. The Congress attracted a diverse audience of specialists from our country and abroad, thanks to the mixed format of the event.
The Congress began with opening remarks from notable figures including Artem N. NARKEVICH, MD, PhD, Minister of Health of the Omsk Region, Maria A. LIVZAN, MD, PhD, Acting OSMU Rector, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander I. MATESHUK, DMD, PhD, President of the Omsk Dental Association, Chief Doctor of the Omsk Dental Hospital №1, and Larissa M. LOMIASHVILI, DMD, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Head of the Department of Preventive Dentistry.
The Symposium «Innovative Technologies in Dentistry» commenced with a presentation by Larissa M. LOMIASHVILI on the research directions of the OSMU Faculty of Dentistry. Participants from six countries (Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, and Ireland) and seventeen cities shared over sixty reports during the Congress. Topics of discussion included oral mucosa diseases, cancer prevention, aesthetic dentistry, and orofacial system rehabilitation. Of particular interest was oral cavity tissue surgery in the context of dental implantation.
The research findings and advancements from the OSMU Faculty of Dentistry significantly contribute to dental education across Russia. OSMU scientists are actively involved in developing preventive and treatment measures to reduce the prevalence of dental diseases. Sharing information about new, highly effective innovative diagnostic and treatment methods will enhance the training of dentists and improve medical care for individuals with oral cavity diseases.
Furthermore, the Congress included a session of the orthopedic dentistry division dedicated to the memory of Prof. V. M. SEMENYUK, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Honored Scientists of the Russian Federation. The session took place under the theme «Medicine Without Borders!» where both Russian and foreign experts presented reports on current issues in orthopedic dentistry. A round table discussion was also held on «Interdisciplinary Collaboration of Dentists and Osteopaths: Points of Contact in Comprehensive Dental Patient Care».
