The National Conference «V West-Siberian Psychiatry Forum», devoted to the 80th Anniversary of Prof. M. G. USOV, took place on March 12. The event aimed at creating a platform for psychiatrists and therapists to exchange ideas and opinions on the latest scientific achievements in the professional field.
In the welcoming speech, Prof. Assoc. Grigory M. USOV, MD, PhD, Head of the OSMU Department of Psychiatry, Medical Psychology, told about the life milestones of his father and mentor, and touched on the topic of scientific work at the Department during the period from 1984 to 2003, when Prof. USOV was heading the Department.
The Conference brought together more than 200 participants from many Russian cities: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, Izhevsk, Ufa, Rostov-on-Don, Omsk. The participants also welcomed a special guest, I. M. Zislin, psychiatrist, independent researcher (Jerusalem, Israel).
The Соnference combined both onsite and online formats. In total, the participants heard 16 reports from the leading specialists. Prof. A. G. KALINICHEV, MD, PhD, presented a report on Hakim-Adams syndrome as a multidisciplinary problem. Prof. Assoc. K. F. VASILCHENKO, MD, PhD, told about the use of artificial intelligence in the diagnostics of mental disorders. The Conference's final note was devoted to differential approach to management of bipolar and unipolar depression, presented by Prof. USOV, MD, PhD.
The reports raised the true interest of the audience and provoked a vivid discussion, which proved the relevance of the presented topics.
