The meeting of the Association “The Council of Rectors of Medical and Pharmaceutical Universities in Russia” in conjunction with the Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities was held via videoconferencing on April 30, 2020. The welcoming remarks were delivered by Prof. Pyotr V. GLYBOCHKO, Rector of Sechenov University, and Prof. ZHANG Xue, Rector of Harbin Medical University (China).
Omsk State Medical University was represented by its Rector, Prof. Maria A. LIVZAN, Prof. Valery SOVALKIN, Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Education, and Prof. Nikolai A. NIKOLAEV, Vice-Rector for Medical Activities and Regional Public Health Issues.
During the meeting, the Chinese colleagues told about the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 in China, scientific evidence of using traditional Chinese medicine while treating the coronavirus, and also analyzed the survival rate in COVID-19 patients with different comorbidities.
Prof. Victor V. FOMIN, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs and Continuing Education in Sechenov University, provided information on the strategy of transforming the work of university’s clinical hospital under the conditions of COVID-19. Prof. Sergey N. AVDEEV, Chief Pulmonologist of the Ministry of Health of Russian Federation, spoke about some aspects of the hospital management of patients.
It should be noted that the Association of Sino-Russian Medical Universities was established upon the initiative of the President of Russian Federation Vladimir PUTIN and the President of People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping. Nowadays, 110 medical universities of two countries are the members of this Association.
