Five persons have been awarded by Omsk Governor Plaque of Honour for their contribution to Volunteer Movement. It is the first time ever Plaque of Honour is granted, but the ceremony is to be annual in the future.
In 2020, 55 applications were submitted for consideration of Omsk Government Selection Committee which presented its recommendations to the Governor of Omsk Region in respect to the persons selected. Alexander BURKOV congratulated the volunteers on receiving the Plaques of Honour and on International Volunteer Day celebrated on December 5.
The Governor says ‘This holiday is for everyone with a kind heart. In our country, more and more people are getting involved in volunteering annually. This year can be called an iconic one. Volunteering has literally become a way of life. When the pandemic began, a lot of Omsk citizens responded to the call for help. We are observing a remarkable tendency; whereas in the past it was mainly young people and students who volunteered, nowadays volunteering has neither age nor social status. Thus, Plaque of Honour 'For Contribution to the Development of Volunteer Movement in Omsk Region' has been established as a sign of gratitude to people who demonstrate a remarkable display of kindness and unselfishness, .
Volunteers of all ages and a wide range of professions are among awardees. Lyubov Boyeva, is retired, has been an active "silver" volunteer, and a winner of "Young Soul" grant competition with a project "Molecules of Help".
Future pediatrician Ilya YEKIMOV, a 5th year student at Omsk State Medical University, heads the regional headquarters of the National Campaign #WeAreTogether and coordinates the activities of Medical Volunteers.
Anastasia PANTUS, a qualified sailor and rescuer, is a coordinator of National Children’s and Youth Movement "School of Safety" under the auspices of the Russian Union of Rescuers. She was awarded a medal "For Life Saving".
Vladimir RAZGONOV, a bell ringer of St. Nicholas Cossack Cathedral, is a volunteer at Omsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, Kuibyshev Gerontological Centre, Hospice for Cancer Patients at City Hospital No. 17, and an activist of #WeAreTogether campaign.
Olga DEMIDOVA, a Head of the Language Centre, heads the Globe Volunteer Centre at the Stolypin Omsk State Agrarian University. Today she takes part in the final of the National Contest "Volunteer of Russia" where 210 good deeds from all over the country claim to win.
"You help families with sick children, war veterans and home front workers, patients in hospitals; you teach the youths to the safety rules in emergency situations. This is just a miserable part of what you do for our citizens. - said the Governor. - The main thing is that your experience inspires others to take the initiative and desire to help people nearby. Thank you for your work, sympathy and generosity”.
