On October 4, 2024, the XII International Pediatric Dentistry Forum, organized annually by the Pediatric Dentistry Department of the Russian University of Medicine with the support of the Pediatric Dentistry section of Dental Association of Russia, was attended by about 300 pediatric dentists from many regions of Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus. In their reports, speakers addressed key issues in pediatric dentistry, solutions to these issues, and the possibilities of interdisciplinary collaboration with pediatricians, surgeons, psychologists, otolaryngologists, immunologists, and specialists from other fields.
Assoc. Prof. Galina I. SKRIPKINA, DMD, PhD, Head of the OSMU Department of Pediatric Dentistry, participated in the Forum and chaired the international jury for the young scientists' and students' research competition. She also moderated the first day of the Forum.
At the conclusion of the first day, the winners of the competition for the best regional program for the prevention of dental diseases in children (dedicated to T.I. CHEBAKOVA) were announced, along with the results of the «Pediatric Dentistry through the Eyes of the Youth» competition, supported by the Young Scientists Society of the Russian University of Medicine. The victorious participants were awarded personalized diplomas and valuable prizes. OSMU students and young researchers actively contributed to the competition, which attracted 37 participants from 14 regions across Russia and Belarus. In the fiercely competitive young scientists' section, Taisiya I. BURNASHOVA, DMD, Asst. of the OSMU Department of Pediatric Dentistry, earned second place for her presentation entitled «Dental Morbidity in Preschool Children in Omsk» (supervised by Assoc. Prof. Galina I. SKRIPKINA).
In the student section, Madina URAZOVA, a 4th-year student of the OSMU Faculty of Dentistry, took second place for her promising research on «Vaping and E-cigarettes: Their Impact on Mineral Metabolism in the Oral Cavity of Adolescents» (supervised by Assoc. Prof. Evgeniy V. EKIMOV, MD, PhD, OSMU Department of Pediatric Dentistry).
