On April 19-20, 2019 the XIV Scientific Conference “Burning Issues of Surgery” took place in Omsk Regional Clinical Hospital. The forum was in memory of Academician Leonid POLUEKTOV. More than 100 scientists and practicing surgeons from Moscow, Tyumen, Tomsk, Yaroslavl, and Kazakhstan participated in it.
The opening speeches were made by Dmitry VYUSHKOV, the Minister of Public Health in Omsk Region, Konstantin POLEZHAEV, the Head Doctor of Omsk Regional Clinical Hospital, Prof. Andrey PISKLAKOV, Vice-Rector for Research in OSMU. All speakers emphasized an obvious practical significance of this event for doctors and patients as well.
Experts discussed the issues of an early diagnostics of cancer, a specific character of minimally invasive surgery in coloproctology, at chest pathology, and cardia benign diseases.
A well-known surgical oncologist Badma BASHANKAEV, the head surgeon of the Center for Surgery in GMS Clinics and Hospitals (Moscow) spoke about colorectal cancer screening.
Prof. Oral OSPANOV, the Head of the Department of Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery, Astana Medical University, told about the results of his work in bariatric and metabolic surgery.
Andrey KOSHEL, the Head of the Department of Surgery including Disaster Medicine Course, Siberian State Medical University (Tomsk), made the report on modern approaches to diagnostics and surgical management of cardia benign diseases.
In total, about 20 reports were made within the conference.
