The Department was established in 1921, and Prof. Ivan P. ZAKONOV was assigned as a first Head. In 1923, on his initiative, the Laboratory of Forensic Medicine and OSMU Forensic Museum were set up. Prof. ZAKONOV designed complex 3D-models of the crime scenes and forensic specimens, which enriched the collection of the Museum.
In 1966 the Department was led by Prof. Tatiana M. UTKINA, MD, PhD, who organized the Omsk Division of the Russian Scientific Society of Forensic Experts.
In 1995-2020, the Department was headed by Prof. Vladimir P. KONEV, MD, PhD.
