Brief History

The Department of Preventive Dentistry was established in 1959 headed by Vyacheslav I. KARNITSKII, MD, PhD.
 
In 1990-2010, the Department was headed by Prof. Vladimir B. NEDOSEKO, MD, PhD. The sphere of his scientific interests was morphologic and functional characteristics of the main sensitive nuclei of the trigeminal nerve and Gasserian nodes in periodontosis and dental caries.
 
Since 2010, the Department has been led by Prof. Larissa M. LOMIASHVILI, MD, PhD, who has been studying the clinical and morphological characteristics of the dentoalveolar system in patients with different levels of predisposition to dental caries, and aesthetic dental modeling.
