Brief History

The Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery was established in 1921 and located in the Neurology Center of OSMU. Prof. Vasily V. KORELIN was assigned as the first Head of the Department. Banding together with the Department of Psychiatry, the staff mostly focused on cross-disciplinary issues including mental disorders, psychology, and pedagogy. Under the supervision of Prof. KORELIN, the first Students’ Scientific Society was established, and the students began to get involved in research.
