Brief History

The Department was established in 1922 and located in the former military barracks of Omsk Fortress.
 
Prof. Alexander A. GRYAZNOV was assigned as a first Head.
 
In 1930 as per the Decision of the Soviet Government a new Faculty on Mother and Child Protection in OSMU and a new Omsk Maternity House for 110 beds were opened to carry out a specialized medical care for women.
 
The scientists and doctors were working together during the WWII to strengthen the academic and scientific alliance.
 
The traditions have been keeping for years by the next generations and today the academic and teaching staff of the Department is working shoulder to shoulder with doctors and medical staff of the Maternity house with the only aim to help their patients and safe lives both a mother and a child.
 
The staff of the Department has implemented more than 30 innovative diagnostic and treatment methods. Moreover, Preterm Birth Prevention Center, Center for Reconstructive Urogynecology, Center for Family Planning and Reproductive Medicine with the ART Department have been established and located at the affiliated hospitals of OSMU
