Brief History

The Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases was established in 1921 by Assoc. Prof. Andrey P. KORKHOV.
 
In 1944, the Department was named after Prof. Nikolai D. LIBEROV, who was a pioneer in scientific research and a founder of the Siberian School of Internists being its leader from 1926 till 1943.
 
The following areas were the subjects of interests in different periods of time:
1. Brucellosis and chronic pneumonia (Prof. Herbert F. BARBANCHIK).
2. Chronic pneumonia (Prof. Nikolai N. VYSOTSKY and Prof. Anfisa P. ANANYINA).
Prof. Nikolai N. VYSOTSKY completed more than 20 scientific works on functional diagnostics of heart diseases, gastric secretion, radiology, and together with Prof. Anfisa P. ANANYINA developed the original methods for treatment of chronic pneumonia with penicillin (direct injection of antibiotics into the lesion focus) and X-ray therapy.
3. Since 1972, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of coronary and non-coronary myocardial diseases under the supervision of Prof. Viktor M. YAKOVLEV.
4. 1985 - 2010 Diagnosis and correction for disorders of central and peripheral hemodynamics, blood vessel wall, hemostasis and microcirculation in pathology of internal organs, issues of diagnosis and treatment of systemic mycoses, bronchial asthma, metabolic syndrome, damage of internal organs in chronic opium addiction (Assoc. Prof. Ivan A. REUTSKY and Prof. Zareta SH. GOLEVTSOVA).
5. 2010-2015 Development of personalized therapy of internal organs pathology based on clinical and instrumental data and molecular genetic analysis in order to predict the risk of occurrence and prevent relapses and complications under the supervision of Svetlana BUNOVA, Head of the Department.
 
Since 2015 till present time the Department is headed by Assoc. Prof. Nikolai V. OVSYANNIKOV.
