Brief History

The Department was established in 1948 headed by Prof. Galina A. SIZEMOVA, MD, PhD, a broad-minded scientist and a teacher with a critical view on routine notions, who discovered Omsk hemorrhagic fever.
 
In 1972, the Department was headed by Prof. Roza I. RUDAKOVA, MD, PhD, who made a contribution to the improvement of the educational process and equipped the Department with modern facilities and medical appliances.
 
From 1994 to 2004, the Department was led by Prof. Viktor N. DROZDOV, MD, PhD, Honored Scientist of The Russian RSFR. He paid a special attention to the errors in diagnosis and treatment of pediatric infectious diseases, and also focused on the issues of mixed infections.
 
In 2004 the Department has been led by Prof. Yuriy B. BELAN, MD, PhD, Principal Specialist in Pediatric Infectious Diseases in the Ministry of Public Health of Omsk Region. He continued to explore Omsk hemorrhagic fever in children, concentrating on pharmacotherapy of the disease.
 
Since 2023, the Department is led by Assoc. Prof. Larisa V. PUZYREVA, MD, PhD.
