Brief History

The Department for Pediatric Diseases was established in 1922.
 
In different periods the Department was headed by:
 
1925-1930 – Prof. A.V. POPOV, MD
1930-1946 – Prof. Olga D. SOKOLOVA-PONOMAREVA, MD, PhD, a Full Member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences
1946-1948 – Assoc. Prof. Olga A. FILINA, MD, PhD
1948-1953 – Assoc. Prof. Sofia R. GRINBERG (LEIFER)
1954-1988 – Prof. Valentina P. BISYARINA, MD, PhD, a Full Member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. Under her supervision many new treatment methods were implemented in Children’s Hospitals of Omsk Region: the use of the vaccine for the treatment of brucellosis in children, continuous bicillin administration for prophylaxis of rheumatism, the use of brufen (ibuprofen) in rheumatoid arthritis in children.
