Brief History

Pediatrics:
 
The Department of Children’s Diseases was established in 1922.
In different periods the Department was headed by:
1922-1954 – Prof. Olga D. SOKOLOVA-PONOMAREVA, MD, PhD, Academician of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences was assigned as the first Head of the Department.
1954-1965 – Prof. Valentina P. BISYARINA, MD, PhD, a Full Member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. In those years the course and epidemiology, diagnosis, effective modes of treatment and preventive measures of rheumatism, brucellosis and TB in children were studied.
1965-1985 – Assoc. Prof. N. O. SKOLSKAYA. In the 1980s, the features of non-rheumatic heart disease and functional cardiomyopathy, mechanisms of adaptation and disadaptation in children were investigated.
1985-2011 – Prof. Nikolai V. SOBOTYUK, MD, PhD. During that period, the scientific interest was aimed at studying the features of ontogenesis of the immune system in infants and its connection with vaccination, pediatric allergy and immunology, pediatric cardiology, and pediatric gastroenterology.
2011-2015 – Prof. Elena A. POTROKHOVA, MD, PhD. During those years the features of the somatic pathology in children associated with chronic Epstein-Barr viral infection were studied.

Propaedeutics of Pediatric Diseases Department was established in 1946.

1966-1971 – Prof Assoc. Olga D. ZOTOVA, MD, PhD
1971-1996 – Prof. Ekaterina K. MINYAILO, MD, PhD
1996 – Prof. Tamata A. KULAKOVA, MD, PhD
1997-2007 – Assoc. Prof. Alexander V. LUKIANOV, MD, PhD
Since 2007 – Assoc. Prof. Oleg V. ANTONOV, MD, PhD
