Brief History

The Department of Occupational Health was established in 1941. In 1941-1945, the Department was headed by Siegfried I. IZRAELSON, a founder of a new field in occupational medicine - toxicology of rare metals.
 
In 1945-1948, Prof. Ezro M. KAGAN led the Department.
 
In 1948-1952, Samson A. BRANDIS was a head of the Department. The area of his scientific interests was occupational health issues in mechanical engineering and mining industry.
 
In 1952-1954, Assoc. Prof. Zoya M. FADEEVA headed the Department.
 
In 1955-1957, the Department was led by Assoc. Prof. Isaak A. ZAIDSHNUR, who studied occupational physiology and microclimate at workplace.
 
In 1958-1990, Professor Nina K. DVORYANINOVA headed the Department.
 
In 1990-1995, the Department was headed by Vladimir G. DEMCHENKO, who organized a postgraduate course for advanced professional training for specialists in public health and doctors.
 
In 1966, Course of Occupational Health was organized.

1966-1974 - Assoc. Prof. Galina I. Vinogradova
1974-1984 - Assoc. Prof. Nikolay P. Kurbatov
1984-1986 - Assoc. Prof. Tamara A. Golygina
1986-1996 - Assoc. Prof. Sergey V. Kotenko
 
In 1995, the Department and the Course were united into the Department of Occupational Health.
