The Department of Social Hygiene was founded in 1924 among the first departments of the Omsk Medical Institute and headed by Petr N. VLADIMIRSKII, Honored Doctor of the RSFSR.
In 1922-1923, a course Sanitary Statistics, as an integrated part of Social Hygiene was read at the Department of General Hygiene.
In subsequent years, the name of the department changed: in 1940 it was renamed the Department of Health Organization, and in 1965 – the Department of Social Hygiene and Healthcare Organization.
In 1969 the Department was led by Nina I. ZHUCHKOVA. In 1972 she focused her scientific interests on the issues of social hygiene and healthcare management, which had set a vector for further scientific studies for many years.
In 2000-2020 the Department was headed by Prof. Olga P. GOLEVA, MD, PhD.
In 2012, the Department of Public Health and Health Management, including History of Medicine and Biomedical Ethics Courses was renamed the Department of Public Health and Health Management.
